MK313 Mod 0 40 mm x 46 I-LV-HEDP

Rheinmetall's new multipurpose 40 mm I-LV-HEDP (Improved Low Velocity High Explosive Dual Purpose) cartridge is ideal for engaging and defeating lightly armoured and soft targets.

A specially formed copper trumpet liner enhances the penetrating power of the shaped charge. Massive lateral fragmentation results from the preformed steel casing. The unique base fuse is safely located under the explosive charge. Equipped with a self-destruct mechanism, the impact fuse is optimized for high sensitivity detonation when engaging both hard and area targets; the arming distance is between 11 and 19 metres.

The MK313's excellent accuracy results from its patented, proprietary propulsion unit, in which the cartridge case (including the propelling components) is fastened to the explosive charge), and pre-determined breaking points in the high-/low-pressure chamber release the projectile at a predefined level of pressure. This ensures consistent muzzle velocities and results in a high degree of accuracy.

The MK313 grenade is suitable for use in any standard 40 mm grenade launcher or rifle attachment, including the HK79, XM320, EGLM, M79 and M203.
